Leaving Dole, the trail climbs steadily through scenic alpine meadows used as summer pastures for yaks. You’ll pass stone shrines and prayer flags fluttering in the mountain breeze—an immersive glimpse into the region’s spiritual landscape.
In summer, the meadows are vibrant and full of grazing yaks. In winter, the area becomes barren, and locals descend to lower altitudes to avoid the harsh cold.
As you ascend, Mt. Cho Oyu—the sixth-highest peak in the world—comes into view. The trail continues past the small villages of Lapharma and Luja before reaching your stop for the night: Machhermo.
